PART 1: GENERAL DETAILS - CAUSES
If your beloved Prado 150 has the famous AUDIO OFF issue, and it would likely have no sound while performing well other functions like reverse camera, SAT NAV… then this article would be one of your best sources to fix the issue.
A. Prado 150 Altitude / VX / KAKADU 2009-2013 generation has 7 main components:
1. NAV DVD Player and Starter Module: under the passenger seat
2. Centre console AM FM CD DVD player: this one will turn on the factory Amplifier, it controls the Roof LCD, and connects to the top LCD screen.
3. Top LCD screen displaying all details of the system
4. Amplifier: under the driver seat (this is one single Amplifier but has all channels to control the Premium Sound setup in the car)
5. Roof LCD: can be controlled via module (2), front LCD screen, or remote control
6. Steering wheel section: this is connected through module (2) to control the whole system.
7. Camera system: this is connected through the car computer and then to the top LCD screen.
B. IF the car can turn on the SAT NAV LCD screen but has AUDIO OFF issue without any sound through the car, while all / or almost all other functions seem working except AM FM Radio CD player and Roof LCD then you can check yourself to see which information it could report from the internal system.
This video would help you to self-check some internal faults from your Prado factory screen. Notice that this only works if your main screen still works
The cause of the problem would generally / commonly come in the faulty order like this:
1. Module (5) in section A
2. Module (2) in section A
3. If the issue still is there after you might try replacing/fixing Module (5) and (2) then the faulty parts come next to Module (4) or (3) even further.
*NOTE: While we say generally/commonly it means it might happen like that, we do not guarantee that you will be able to fix your system after fixing the modules following the order.
PART 2: SOLUTIONS

1. Trying to fix all factory parts back to normal working conditions first. You need to find some businesses repairing those factory parts. At MPX AUTOS we do not repair factory parts.

2. CUSTOM-UPGRADE your current faulty system directly with our PLUG n PLAY CUSTOM-BUILT 9-inch PREMIUM setup – 5th Generation as of June 2024 including DUAL PIONEER FD D-Class High Performance GM-D1004 2 x 400W Amplifiers.
- This will give you a new system like many other videos we have done for 150 series. Also, it will have a MUCH BETTER SOUND PERFORMANCE than before.

- We also can either retain the factory reverse camera, or upgrade it with a much higher level 5 x times better reverse camera (Full HD FHD 1080P Anti-Glare Super Wide Angle Night Vision) at a better location to see the rear end of the car with rear bumper and tow ball showing on the screen.
- Some factory steering wheel buttons still work (phone answer, phone drop), but some will not because some of them (on the left side of the steering wheel) are controlled by the factory AM FM CD DVD Player module which already stopped working in your car.
You already knew but again to confirm that you will not have those components working in the new system:
- Factory AM FM RADIO CD PLAYER (our system already has better AM FM radio, and can be installed with DAB+ Digital Radio as well)
- Factory Roof LCD (if you need a roof LCD, we can provide, an extra option, a replacement one which is the current matching design with our new 9-inch head unit and far better quality LED Touchscreen and operation platform).

This 2nd option can be best done at our workshop, via our authorised installers network, or can be a DIY package (you need some basic knowledge of car panel removal, then we will help you to replace the parts with our instructions).
